No Country For Good Movies

I have just finished watching No Country For Old Men for the first time. What a steaming pile of neo-western shit. As with so many Oscar worthy films, it is a total train wreck of a film that somehow manages to impress people with it’s big name actors and supposedly great depth. In point of fact, from my own point of view, it was one of the most boring two hours of my life. The action is understated in a way that leaves it feeling flat and stilted. The plot makes a certain amount of sense until near the end when they entirely skip over the actual climax that has been building and then they completely bail on the concept of fulfilling promises made in the opening. The lack of a significant soundtrack or score makes it even more boring and less worthy of notice, much less awards. Tommy Lee Jones and the rest of the cast provide what should have been a compelling and moving performance but instead falls flat and leaves the viewer wondering why they watched this movie instead of doing something more fun, like bathing in molten tar. The only saving grace for this film is the fact that I never have to watch it again. I refuse to give it an actual rating on any scale because I don’t think it’s worthy of that kind of respect. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
